At the Stade de France, the Bataclan, in the cafes and restaurants of Paris... on Friday 13th November, terrorists killed and wounded many innocent people. And in doing so, they also aimed also to kill these places that we love, places which represent culture and a spirit of sharing.
We at WorldEventListings share the grief of the friends and families of the victims of the terrorist attacks of 13th November 2015. And we offer our unconditional support to all the cultural venues affected.
Our raison d'être has always been to share cultural information with as many people as possible. We will continue. We will win. Their failure is only a matter of time.

Description

A living masterpiece.

A city stuffed with art, architecture and history, in Rome you will stumble on treasures around every corner. However, Rome is far from an embalmed “museum city”: it is a vibrant metropolis brimming with colour and passion…

Begin your day with a visit to the Vatican Museums: you’ll have to get up early to arrive before it opens, as a huge number of people will also be vying to see the treasures of this miniature state. Inside, the sumptuous works from floor to ceiling will amaze you. Don't miss the chance to see the rooms painted by Raphael and the famous Sistine Chapel, where you can admire Michelangelo’s sublime ceiling, one of his most remarkable works.

On the way out, pass through St Peter’s Square and you will find yourself in front of one of four Papal basilicas, the largest and most impressive in Rome. If you have time, climb the stairs to the dome, where you will be rewarded with a wonderful view. Near the basilica, you will find some of the best ice cream in Rome, at the Old Bridge Gelateria.

Next, jump on the Metropolitana (subway) towards the Coliseum. This extraordinary antique amphitheatre is a must-see. From high up on the stands you can spot some of the remarkable monuments of the Roman Forum, and can admire the Arch of Constantine.

Public transport will take you to the Piazza di Spagna, a popular meeting point for locals. This bustling square has remarkable fountains and a fabulous staircase, known as the Spanish Steps.

Continue on foot towards the legendary Trevi Fountain, which featured in the legendary scene of the film, La Dolce Vita, by Fellini. This romantic place is even more beguiling at dusk, when the fountain is lit by a soft glow. Pass by the Pantheon if you have time and you will see Raphael's tomb. Round off your day with a hearty Italian meal in one of the restaurants in the narrow streets around Piazza Navona.
