At the Stade de France, the Bataclan, in the cafes and restaurants of Paris... on Friday 13th November, terrorists killed and wounded many innocent people. And in doing so, they also aimed also to kill these places that we love, places which represent culture and a spirit of sharing.
We at WorldEventListings share the grief of the friends and families of the victims of the terrorist attacks of 13th November 2015. And we offer our unconditional support to all the cultural venues affected.
Our raison d'être has always been to share cultural information with as many people as possible. We will continue. We will win. Their failure is only a matter of time.

Description

An international centre for culture and research.

Work on the Centre Pompidou began in 1972 following a design from the architects Renzo Piano, Richard Rogers and Gianfranco Franchini. The Centre was opened in 1977 by President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing.
The permanent collections and temporary exhibitions occupy the top levels of the building which also have a terrace with panoramic views and a restaurant; the public information Library is spread out over two floors.
The museum has a strong acquisitions policy: the majority of donations are modern art. The aesthetic movement started by Marcel Duchamp acts as a kind of link between historical pictorial trends. The major Cubist, Futurist and Surrealist works on display serve to increase the museum's prestige, and its collections also include new fields in contemporary art that require new forms of displaying and conservation, as well as architecture, design and new media. Many major exhibitions held here have provided a deeper understanding of the major movements and figures of 20th century art: "Dadaism", "Pop Art", or Sophie Calle, De Staël, Giacometti…
Research papers and strong aesthetic movements contribute to the Centre's international reputation as a real focal point for culture and research, with several annexes: The Ircam in Place Stravinsky, the Brancusi workshop in the piazza. One day in the Centre is not enough to explore every corner.
