At the Stade de France, the Bataclan, in the cafes and restaurants of Paris... on Friday 13th November, terrorists killed and wounded many innocent people. And in doing so, they also aimed also to kill these places that we love, places which represent culture and a spirit of sharing.
We at WorldEventListings share the grief of the friends and families of the victims of the terrorist attacks of 13th November 2015. And we offer our unconditional support to all the cultural venues affected.
Our raison d'être has always been to share cultural information with as many people as possible. We will continue. We will win. Their failure is only a matter of time.

Description

Tinkle, twinkle, little star…

If you are staying on the French Riviera the Observatoire de Nice or Nice Observatory is highly recommended for a visit. Built in 1881, the Nice Observatory was built to be the best of its era. This is why the patron of the Observatory Raphaël Bischoffsheim commissioned the very best architects of the time to design the building: Charles Garnier (architect of the Paris opera house), and Gustave Eiffel (of the famous Tower), who built the cupola.

On the Mont Gros hill, the Nice Observatory nestles in a natural park of some forty hectares of typical provençal landscape. Vising the Observatory is a chance to take a walk on this rocky hill scattered with olive trees, from which you can enjoy the most spectacular view. From here you can see across the bay of Nice, including the Promenade des Anglais and the Bay of Angels.

More than just a wander around, on this walking tour you will learn all about this important scientific centre on the Cote d'Azur. This is a hub of international research in the fields of astrophysics, physics and geosciences. Equipped with four research units with names of stars and constellations (Artemis, Cassiopeia, etc), the Nice Observatory is also associated with the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis.
Don't miss the chance to check out the massive 18-metre telescope at the Observatory.

The Nice Observatory is 6km from the railway station
By bus: From bus stop: La Brigue, take n° 27 towards Nice Square Daudet stop; Delfino/Arson and then go to Riquier and take n° 84 direction Villefranche-sur-Mer, get off at the Observatory stop (39mn bus ride)
Some trains to Nice are part of Operation Train + bike: you can take the train with your bike and then continue to the Observatory by bike.
