At the Stade de France, the Bataclan, in the cafes and restaurants of Paris... on Friday 13th November, terrorists killed and wounded many innocent people. And in doing so, they also aimed also to kill these places that we love, places which represent culture and a spirit of sharing.
We at WorldEventListings share the grief of the friends and families of the victims of the terrorist attacks of 13th November 2015. And we offer our unconditional support to all the cultural venues affected.
Our raison d'être has always been to share cultural information with as many people as possible. We will continue. We will win. Their failure is only a matter of time.

Description

Culture and history.

Get to know Munich: start your day at the Viktualienmarkt, the huge daily food market in the city centre. You’ll find all kinds of products here which you can taste at the stands, including Bavarian specialties such as pretzels.

A ten minute walk from the market, you will find one of the city’s major monuments: the tall, red-roofed Frauenkirche, or Church of Our Lady, is the Cathedral of Munich. The two dome-topped gothic towers are impressive, but don’t forget to look for the “devil’s footprint” as you enter the church.

Next, go back on yourself and continue to the banks of the river Isar where you will find the German Museum. Discover all kinds of objects at the Science and Technology Museum, including a huge collection of steam trains, industrial robots, organs and space probes.

At lunch time, head to the Hofbräuhaus. A real institution in Munich, this historic brewery is known all around the world for its excellent beers.

Nearby, you will find the Marienplatz, a square which is the beating heart of Munich. If you have time, climb to the top of the Alten Peter, the bell tower of the oldest church in Munich, which offers an exceptional view. As you admire the square from above you will discover the new City Hall, and on a clear day you can even see the Alps on the horizon.

Leave the city centre by tram: history buffs will love exploring the Nymphenburg Palace, the former residence of the kings of Bavaria. This palace houses several museums well worth the detour, including the Carriage Museum (Marstallmuseum) and the Natural History Museum (Mensch und Natur). Don’t miss the chance to enjoy a stroll in the botanical gardens, a haven of peace.

If you’re visiting Munich with the family, head to Hellabrunn, Munich’s Zoo. Located in a pleasant spot alongside the Isar, surrounded by forest, the zoo is home to over 4,500 animals.

To finish your day, you could join Bayern Munich supporters for a football match. Otherwise, for a fun night out, P1 is a nightclub which has built up a reputation for its top quality club nights.
