At the Stade de France, the Bataclan, in the cafes and restaurants of Paris... on Friday 13th November, terrorists killed and wounded many innocent people. And in doing so, they also aimed also to kill these places that we love, places which represent culture and a spirit of sharing.
We at WorldEventListings share the grief of the friends and families of the victims of the terrorist attacks of 13th November 2015. And we offer our unconditional support to all the cultural venues affected.
Our raison d'être has always been to share cultural information with as many people as possible. We will continue. We will win. Their failure is only a matter of time.

Description

A real treasure.

If you are visiting with the family, a walk in this park is a must. The Parc de la Tête d'Or or "park of the golden head" certainly has a strange name. Legend has it that some treasure which includes a golden head of Christ is hidden somewhere in the park. Extending over 117 hectares, this is the largest park within an urban area in France.

It is said that in 1856 a former weaver from Lyon working on the construction of the park discovered the treasure, but that his jealous co-workers made off with it. Christ, saddened by the greed of men, wept a giant lake engulfing the treasure once more and rendering the legend eternal.

The landscape artist Denis Bülher began the construction of this park in 1856. Little by little, the lake and its banks, the endless avenues of (now ancient) trees, the zoo and the botanical gardens took shape. The four rose gardens began to bloom in the 1960s.

This green space will delight the whole family and makes an ideal trip with the kids. You will find boats, a mini train, pony rides, a carousel, mini karting, swings and pedalos… Or perhaps you'd rather lie on the grass and enjoy a picnic?

Adults will enjoy strolling in the botanical gardens and beside the ancient trees, or wandering among the perfumed paths of the rose garden.
