At the Stade de France, the Bataclan, in the cafes and restaurants of Paris... on Friday 13th November, terrorists killed and wounded many innocent people. And in doing so, they also aimed also to kill these places that we love, places which represent culture and a spirit of sharing.
We at WorldEventListings share the grief of the friends and families of the victims of the terrorist attacks of 13th November 2015. And we offer our unconditional support to all the cultural venues affected.
Our raison d'être has always been to share cultural information with as many people as possible. We will continue. We will win. Their failure is only a matter of time.

Description

A city of brilliant light.

The warm and welcoming Portuguese capital offers an attractive quality of life. Lisbon is also known for the remarkable clarity of light which illuminates the buildings. Begin your tour of Lisbon with a visit to the Jerónimos Monastery. This magnificent monument, built in the early sixteenth century, is a Unesco World Heritage Site.

Continue your exploration of Lisbon on the banks of the Tagus. Here you will find the magnificent Belem Tower, a symbol of Manueline architecture. If you have time to climb to the top of the fortified tower, you will be rewarded by a fine view of the city and the river. During your visit to the district of Belem, take the opportunity to stop by the Pasteis de Belém: foodies won’t want to miss the chance to taste the delicious traditional homemade pastries on sale there.

Next, it’s time to explore the other side of town, to the heights of the area around the Castle of São Jorge. To get there, you can take the yellow tram which is so emblematic of Lisbon. Visit the castle for a fabulous view over the historic centre of Lisbon.

If you are on a family trip to Lisbon, You could take the metro to Station Oriente, where you will find the Parque das Nações. A futuristic area, it is also home to the Oceanorio or Oceanarium of Lisbon, which is well worth a visit for its thousands of colourful fish, as well as sharks and adorable otters.

Round off the day with a stroll through the narrow streets of Alfama, the historic birthplace of fado music. You will find plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from here as well as live fado concerts.
