Description

Harvest blessing.

This great Thai ceremony aims to bring good luck to the future harvest. Presided over by the King in person, or a member of the royal family, the ceremony follows a strict program. The member of the royal family in question, dressed in ceremonial robes, drives two oxen around the sacred royal lands to ensure that they sow rice grains.

The ceremony concludes with the oxen eating a mixture of rice, corn, beans, sesame, and freshly cut grass.
